8 Best Places To Visit In Almora In Summer/ Winter Holidays Where you Feel Miraculous


1. JAGESHWAR
















Located- 36km northeast of Almora at Artola, Jageshwar valley in Almora district of Uttarakhand. It is a group of over 124 stone temples formed during 7th to 13th century dedicated to lord Shiva and other juxtaposition to Vishnu, Shakti, Surya, etc. This temple include the Mritunjaya temple, Dandeshwar temple, Kuber temple, Chandika temple, Nanda devi temple, Navgraha temple whichare prominent.

Famous Festival : Jageshwar monsoon festival in shravan (july - august) and Mahashivratri (Feb) attract thousands of devotees every year. According to old stories, Pandavas built these all 124 temple in one day and one night but there is no textual, epigraphical or inscriptional evidence to support this.

Other sites to visit: Vinayak kshetra, Shri Vriddha Jageshwar, Jhankarsem temple, Pushti devi.








 

 

 

2. Binsar Zero Point










Located- at top and in the heart of Binsar Wildlife century above 30km from Almora district lies at an elevation of 2412m. The view of the Himalayas are quite mesmerizing as from there visitors can see the 3600 i.e; panoramic view of many Himalayan ranges which include Kedarnath, Shivlang, Trishul, and the group of Nanda devi peaks. The views of dusk and dawn make this adorable to visit. To reach that zero point it is essential for visitors to trek approx 2km above the binsar century, after that the point offers the fabulous view of the nature.

3. Katarmal Sun Temple


 
 
 
 
 
Located about 12km from Almora district in Katarmal village at an altitude of 2116m. It was built by Katyuri King “Katarmalla” in between 9th to 13th century. There are about 44 small stone temples around the main diety Surya, known as Burhadita or Vraddhaditya. Intricate craving on walls, pillars and doors are beautiful sculptures made of stone and metal, making it most beautiful shrine in India after Konark Sun Temple of odisha. It is the only Sun temple located in the hills. From the temple it giver the 1800 view of Katarmal valley.

Famous festival: last Sunday of Paush in Hindu Clender (in the month of January).

4. KASARDEVI










Located- 12km from Almora district at village kasardevi. It is believed that the temple formed during 2ndcentury, dedicated to kasar devi. It is first became known in 1890s when Swami vivekanand visited here, after him many meditator also came. This area is famous for Crank’s ridge.

Famous festival: Kasardevi festival in Kartik (Nov-Dec) on Kartik Purnima is commemorate every year. “Kasardevi is one of these in whole world which comes under Van Allen belt after Machu Pichu in Peru, South America and Stone Heng in England where there are huge geomagnetic bodies withih the earth.”

Other sites to visit: Shri Sharda Math, Machaan (kasar tower), Symthola eco park, etc.






5. DOL ASHRAM










Located- 40km from Almora district at Kanra village. It is also known as Shri Kalyanika Himalaya Devasnaam. The ashram was established in 1990 by Shri Param yogi Kalyandas Ji. It comprises of world’s biggest Shri Yantra (1600kg) of Astha dhatu in the Shri yantra Dhyan Peetham (meditation centre). It is believed that the Yantra is acomplished with Vedic philosophy and is associated with goddess Lakshmi. The atmosphere of the Ashram (in the middle of dense forest and on the laps of Himalayas ) makes it an ideal location for learning and practicing spirituality and meditation.

6.DEER PARK










Located- 3km from Almora city at NTD also famous for Mrigvihaar Zoo. It is surrounded by the greenery of pine and oak, many other species of trees are their as well. Tourist visit here to see the multiple species of flora and fauna, like Deer, Leapord, Himalayan black Bear and different trees also. Deer park has been a haunt for tourist and wildlife lover for a long time and perfect place for those visitor who love to spent their time in lap of nature. Evenings here are the perfect hour to take advantage of the rest of the day, which fascinate many traveler.

7. Bright End Corner










Located- 1km from Almora market in Almora district near Khatyari village (at the end of Almora ridge). It is a picturesque place where the nature serve the mesmerizing view of dawn and dusk, and this panoramic view look very splendid which attract many travelers as well as the nature lover to spend time with the beauty of nature. In the company of mesmerizing scene of dawn and dusk, with exotic birds singing refreshed the mind and body of visitors. This makes more and more touristers to visit here daily. 8. DOLIDANA











Located- 2km from Karbala at the hills of Karbala in Almora district. This temple is dedicated to lord Durga, a goddess figure in Hinduism. To reach there visitors has to trek almost 2km from Karbala, Dugal khola so this is the best option for short distance trekking. It provides enchanting view of snow peaks all around during winters. Famous festival: Durga pooja in Navmi of the month of chaitra (March-April) and Ashvin (Sep- Oct) {of hindu clender} 

Other sites to visit: Firing range, mesmerizing view of pine forest, etc.
